Alfalfa, also called lucern (or Lucerne), is one of the most important forage crops in the world. As it contains much protein, vitamins and minerals, alfalfa is good source of animal feed. But also because of its high content of fibers and minerals, alfalfa is often used to improve the soil or as one kind of biofuel.

To make its transportation and handling much easier, alfalfa is usually pressed into pellets by alfalfa pellet machine. But fresh alfalfa contains too much moisture (20-40%), which is far above required pelletizing moisture 8-10%. As a result, alfalfa must be dried before pelletizing.

Small alfalfa dryer (30-75kg/h)

Working principle: the alfalfa enters the furnace through the pipe, and pumped together with hot air into the cyclone by the fan. After drying, the dry alfalfa is let off from the cyclone, while waste hot air and moisture will get out from the upper part of cyclone.

Working principle: When the wet alfalfa is fed into the dryer, hot air will blow the alfalfa. The drum dryer is a slight sloped cylinder to the ground, so the material is fed into the higher end, and moves towards the lower end, and finally expelled. The moisture will get out with the hot air.  The rotary dryer makes the raw material more fully and thoroughly dried.

2. It has large processing ability but consumes little energy, so that the drying cost is low.
3. This drying machine can bear great temperature, which enables the fast drying of raw materials.
4. Its yield is extensible. Even if the capacity is increased, there is no need to replace the equipment.

• If you only want to dry the alfalfa instead of making pellets or further processing, the capacity of dryer should be in accordance with the capacity you require.
• If you want to make alfalfa pellets, the dryer capacity should be in accordance with the alfalfa pellet mill.
